Day trips from Jerusalem - Find your way in Israel

Day trips from Jerusalem

Situated high in the Judean Hills, Jerusalem, the Capital of Israel, is one of the most extraordinary cities in the world, presenting a unique combination of ancient history, spiritual sanctity and colorful cultures. The city has many attractions and historical places to visit, either by car or by public transportation.

Some areas such as the Old City are not recommended to drive at since they are narrow and crowded. Most of the narrow streets of the Old City are lined with shops where merchants sell foodstuffs and traditional handicrafts; homes are clustered around courtyards surrounded by high walls. Many of Jerusalem’s religious landmarks are located in the Old City. The Western Wall is a remnant of the supporting wall of the Second Temple.

By virtue of being such a small country day trips from and to the major cities in Israel are very convenient. Jerusalem to Tel-Aviv is about an hour . Jerusalem to the Dead sea is about 40 minutes. Jerusalem to Haifa is about 2 hours drive. Tourists in Jerusalem have many day trip options within Israel since the city is centrally located. Popular destinations are Haifa and the Galilee region in northern Israel, Be’er Sheva, Ein Geddi, and the Dead Sea in the south. While traveling between cites may seem daunting to a foreigner, it is important to note that many rental car service providers are able to include a GPS unit with the rental.
